Please stop here at the entrance gate and take a closer look at this stately rock work. 

 

Parts of the design like its sloping sides almost have a Craftsman-era architectural look.

It was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps using rock from the local area.

The same rock was used at a few of the artesian wells scattered around the park.
