Two miles of the Loop Road follows the Lynches River.  The river floods a large portion of this road during some part of the year because it lies in the river floodplain.

There is one small island found along the river called Mulberry Island.  It lies a few feet higher than the surrounding floodplain.   The CCC built fishing cabins here.  These cabins were Spartan - no running water and no restrooms in the cabins.  Park visitors using the cabins used the nearby artesian well for water and this elevated outhouse.

This outhouse and the artesian well are the only remnants of CCC construction on the island.
